Chapter 75 : Fortress

A fortress is critical for those on the offensive; so is it, for those on the defensive to protect themselves.	741
Pearl-like perennial water, sand, mountains and shaded woods – a strong fortress contains all these.	742
Tall, vast, impregnable and unapproachable – experts prescribe these four measures for forts.	743
Boundaries, vulnerable and needing protection, are minimal but area enclosed is vast – such a fortress destroys the confidence of advancing foes.	744
A good fortress is unassailable, contains sufficient food and makes life easy for the residents.	745
A strong fortress contains all required resources and valiant warriors who will support during a siege.	746
Neither siege, nor an all-out attack, nor sowing dissent will befell a strong fortress.	747
A strong fortress aids those devoted to stay and defend it, to defeat the formidable foes who have besieged it.	748
A fortress attains glory through the glory attained by its residents, who, through their daring deeds, swiftly subdue the foes on the warfront.	749
However formidable it maybe, a fortress is futile for those not formidable in their deeds.	750

உயர்வகலம் திண்மை அருமைஇந் நான்கின் அமைவரண் என்றுரைக்கும் நூல்.	743
சிறுகாப்பின் பேரிடத்த தாகி உறுபகை ஊக்கம் அழிப்ப தரண்.	744
கொளற்கரிதாய்க் கொண்டகூழ்த் தாகி அகத்தார் நிலைக்கெளிதாம் நீர தரண்.	745
எல்லாப் பொருளும் உடைத்தாய் இடத்துதவும் நல்லாள் உடைய தரண்.	746
முற்றியும் முற்றா தெறிந்தும் அறைப்படுத்தும் பற்றற் கரிய தரண்.	747
முற்றாற்றி முற்றி யவரையும் பற்றாற்றிப் பற்றியார் வெல்வ தரண்.	748
முனைமுகத்து மாற்றலர் சாய வினைமுகத்து வீறெய்தி மாண்ட தரண்.	749
எனைமாட்சித் தாகியக் கண்ணும் வினைமாட்சி இல்லார்கண் இல்ல தரண்.	750
